Phenomenology 101

Jamy Bond is a fiction and nonfiction writer.

Her stories and essays appear in a variety of publications, including The Rumpus, The Sun Magazine, Barren Magazine, Ghost Parachute, JMWW, Pithead Chapel, Wigleaf, and elsewhere. Her story “Tattoos” was recently selected for Best Microfiction 2023. Her story “Combat Zone” appeared on the Wigleaf Top 50 longlist 2022. Her essay “Shipwrecked” was selected for the Best of JMWW anthology. Her work has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, Best Microfiction, Best American Short Stories and Best American Essays. She earned an MFA from George Mason University where she co-founded So To Speak: A Feminist Journal of Language and Art.

She was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant and spent three years researching and writing in Mozambique. She served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria, which launched a decade of working in international development and disaster relief.

Jamy’s work and writing have sent her across five continents and through 25 countries, including two war zones. Today, she lives with her family on the banks of Aquia Creek just outside of Washington, DC.  Contact Jamy at jamy@jamybond.com.
